Applications
- Application does not guarantee entry and application fees are non-refundable.
- Application decisions made by New Zealand Burlesque Festival Ltd are final.
- Applications must be accompanied with payment. Each application will get fair consideration.
- Performer Applications open from 22nd November 2017 and close 11.59pm NZ time 31st January 2018. All performers will be notified no later than the 14th February 2018.
- Applicants have the permission of the photographer, and give permission to New Zealand Burlesque Festival Ltd to use photos supplied in the application process for marketing purposes of New Zealand Burlesque Festival. The performer releases New Zealand Burlesque Festival Ltd of any liability associated with that use.
- Successful applicants that perform will get a 50% discount off one show night that they are not performing in for a single ticket for themselves (excluding the Thursday Night Gala Opening). This is not exchangeable for cash nor transferable to another person.
- Successful applicants will be given per act, an honorarium of NZD $50 for individuals or NZD $75 for group acts.
- Honorariums will be required to be invoiced to New Zealand Burlesque Festival Ltd prior to the event and will be paid to the nominated bank account or Paypal account within 5 working days of the event. Taxes are the responsibility the performer. Failure to invoice within 28 days of request will result in honorarium being relinquished.
- Successful applicants will not be paid travel, accommodation or any other expense associated with their appearance.
- Successful applicants will be required to agree to the terms of a performer agreement to confirm their place and their agreement with full performance terms and conditions. This will include model releases. Failure to confirm acceptance of the agreement via email by the specified date will result in the performer losing their place at the festival. No commitment will be formalized until such time as the acceptance is received by NZBF.
- Once signed, performers are bound by the agreement and any breaches including significant unprofessional conduct during the festival that may result in their removal from the festival schedule and loss of honorarium.
- Successful applicants are not to perform in the greater regional area of the show they are performing in for the Festival, within 14 days for New Zealand performers, and 30 days for International performers, either side of the performance date without the permission of New Zealand Burlesque Festival Ltd . Failure to adhere to this clause will result in the performer losing their place in the festival and/or loss of honorarium. This is to protect the integrity of the event.
- New Zealand Burlesque Festival Ltd reserves the right to change terms and conditions with reasonable notification to those affected.
- Failure to meet these application conditions will result in your application being removed and a loss of application fee.
Royal Tease King and Queen of Festival Competition
- Application does not guarantee entry.
- Any performer (national or international) may apply.
- The producers will select the finalists and the producer’s decision is final.
- The judging panel will be selected by the producers and will include at least one international member of the burlesque community.
- Performances should be generally no longer than 6 minutes as a general rule (this is a guideline only and is not mandatory).
- The male and female performers with the highest overall score will be crowned the King and Queen.
- Judging criteria may include, but not limited to, Implementation, Entertainment, Costume/Prop usage, Music Usage, Body Usage.
- The winners will be automatically invited back to perform in the NZBF 2019 event, and will not be subject to the application process and it’s terms. A performer agreement will still be required.
- The judges decision is final.
Burlesque Exchange Scholarship (BES)
- Application does not guarantee entry.
- Only New Zealand based performers who hold a passport and achieve visa requirements for their chosen country may apply.
- Performers will be provided with a questionnaire to return prior to the event to support their application for the Burlesque Exchange Scholarship.
- You must be accepted to and perform at the New Zealand Burlesque Festival 2018 to be eligible.
- Each application for the BES will be judged on it’s own merits, with the winner of the BES being deemed by New Zealand Burlesque Festival Ltd to best represent the NZ Burlesque community and act with integrity while on the programme.
- The BES recipient will receive NZD$2,000 towards the cost of travel to go to an international burlesque event. Appropriate contacts, mentoring and support before and while overseas will be provided where possible. All travel arrangements, visas and additional costs etc will be the responsibility of the successful recipient.
- Travel must be taken within 12 months of being awarded the BES.
- The recipient must submit a travel plan, identifying where they wish to travel, and a breakdown of how the money is to be allocated within 9 months of being awarded the BES.
- Payment will only be made to the recipient’s bank account upon approval by New Zealand Burlesque Festival Ltd of the travel plan.
- Should the chosen recipient not be able to meet the terms of travel or provide required updates and information as above, the producers reserve the right to reallocate the BES to another suitable applicant, or not at all. The recipient must immediately return any funds supplied within 14 days and is subject to any collection costs if overdue.
- The recipient must not do anything that could potentially bring the reputation of New Zealand Burlesque Festival or any of its associates into disrepute.
- The recipient must complete a presentation regarding their experience at the festival following their travel. Failure to do so will result in a $200 fee.
- NZBF reserves the right to change the terms of the BES prize for a fixed event of their choosing if required.
Workshop Application
- Application does not guarantee workshop acceptance.
- Workshop Applications open from 22nd November 2017 and close 4 March 2018 11.59pm NZ time.
- If workshops do not meet minimum attendance numbers they may be cancelled by New Zealand Burlesque Festival Ltd without loss to the tutor.
- New Zealand Burlesque Festival Ltd will collect workshop fees on the tutors’ behalf.
- Workshops that are run as a part of NZBF, the fees will be split 60% to the tutor and 40% to New Zealand Burlesque Festival Ltd to cover venue and administration costs.
- Payment of workshop fees will be made once invoiced, into to the nominated bank account of the tutor no later than 10 working days after the festival. If choosing to use Paypal, the tutor will be responsible for the respective charges.
- Should the tutor wish to cancel the workshop, they shall be liable for the administrative costs and losses that may be incurred to New Zealand Burlesque Festival Ltd from any bookings taken.
- Failure to invoice New Zealand Burlesque Festival Ltd within 28 days after the workshop will result in fees being relinquished.
Workshop Attendance
- Only payment secures your booking.
- Payments opted to be made by internet banking must be received within 2 working days of the booking. Failure to meet that timeframe will result in the loss of place unless otherwise agreed by New Zealand Burlesque Festival Ltd.
- Where workshops are cancelled for any reason, including if minimum numbers are not reached, you will be refunded the full amount no later than 5 working days after the festival or of receiving your nominated bank account, whichever is the latest.
- If you can no longer attend a booked workshop, notifications made to New Zealand Burlesque Festival Ltd before 15 April 2018 will result in a 50% refund. Notification on or after this date or non-attendance on the day will not be entitled to a refund.
Peelers Pop-Up Emporium Vendor T& C’s
- Application for vendor does not guarantee a spot. Vendors will be selected on appropriateness to the Festival and to minimise multiple vendors of the same style
- Once application to vendor has been made, you will receive a response and if successful and invoice within 7 days of application.
- Spots are not secured until payment is received by NZBF
- Vendor fees are non-refundable, including if the vendor withdraws from the market.
- Requests for a volunteer to help man your table during the market must be made by 14th April.
- Volunteers are as available and not guarenteed.
- The Vendor must be set up by 9.30am and packed out by 5.30pm.
Golden Garters – Instructions
- Please list your 3 nominations for each category with most favourite first.
- Nominations must have been seen between the period of 1 January 2017 and 31 December 2017.
- Popular nomination will decide the winner.
- Where categories are ‘Judges Decision’ it may not be the popular nominee who wins. It will be the judges’ decision and their decision is final.
- No soliciting for nominations. You may “share” the page and ask if your audience feels you are deserving of an award to “feel free” to nominate you. We will be monitoring this!
- Nominations close 25 March 2018. All nominees announced no later than 15 April 2018. Winners will be announced on the website no later than 1 June 2018.
